Several schools in East Tennessee announced they will be closed starting Feb. 5 due to illness. Some of the schools said they would be closed for the rest of the week. A list of the school districts that plan to close is available below.

An increase in absences and checkouts has schools in Lincoln County, Tennessee, closing. Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday because of sickness which school officials say resulted in staffing challenges.

McLean County Schools will be closed for the rest of the week due to continued illness. Officials with the schools took to Facebook to make the announcement. They say McLean County Schools will be using an NTI day on Thursday and school will also be closed on Friday.

Casey County Public Schools said its schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. The district said schools will be using NTI days for both Thursday and Friday due to a high number of student and staff illnesses.
