A teenager opened fire at Antioch High School Wednesday killing a student and leaving a mourning community that has already seen two mass shooting incidents in recent years.

Metro Public Schools is adopting new strategies to ensure students feel safe when returning to Antioch High School after Wednesday’s deadly shooting.

Antioch High School is reopening its doors to students and teachers starting Tuesday, with a modified schedule to prioritize counseling.

Metro Police have revealed that two guns were confiscated from the home of Solomon Henderson, the suspect in the deadly Antioch High School shooting.

Police said a male student shot two people at the high school on Wednesday morning before turning the gun on himself.

State Democrats are calling on Gov. Bill Lee to add guns to the list of topics for the special session on Monday.

Metro Nashville Public Schools said it is taking immediate action to strengthen safety and security at AHS. On Friday, MNPS officials began installing Evolv systems. MNPS said Evolv is a weapons detection system and security technology that was temporarily loaned by System Integrations.

One 16-year-old girl named Josselin Corea Escalante was killed, and two other students were injured. The injured students were taken to Vanderbilt Pediatrics for medical attention. The shooter shot himself and died from the self-inflicted wound.

The Antioch High School shooter and Abundant Life Christian School shooter had similar social media activity prior to the attacks.
