Doctors attending Pope Francis sought to reassure the world’s nearly 1.4 billion Catholics on Friday that “the pope is fine” and “working,” while at the same time warning that the pontiff would probably remain hospitalized for at least another week and remained in significant danger as he fights off double pneumonia.

Doctors provided an update on Pope Francis' health, saying the 88-year-old is not yet out of danger despite showing improvement in recent days.

According to the Feb. 19 communication, medical staff found the pope’s blood tests to show less inflammatory markers. They said his clinical condition is “stationary.”
