The Arizona Diamondbacks may be without their All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte for a few more weeks, but manager Torey Lovullo is encouraged by the progress his star infielder has made in recovering from a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte is expected to miss several weeks with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.

Marte, 31, signed a six-year, $116.5 million contract extension with the D-Backs on Wednesday, meaning he is under contract through the 2031 season. Marte injured his hamstring on Friday while legging out a double during the first inning of Arizona's 6-4 win over the Washington Nationals.
