A brush fire forced evacuations and road closures Tuesday in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. The blaze, called the Friars Fire, sparked at 12:32 p.m. off Friars Road and Via de la Moda, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

UPDATE: Crews stop forward progress of brush fire on Friars Road in Mission Valley
As of 3:45 p.m., all evacuation orders connected to the fire were lifted. The San Diego Police Department told an ABC 10News producer on the scene around 1:30 p.m. that crews stopped the fire's forward progress at three acres.
