The Monaco Grand Prix has long been nicknamed “the jewel in Formula 1’s crown” but for all the sparkle, the racing has often been dull.

Over the years the Monaco Grand Prix has been decided on Saturday, with qualifying becoming a determinative factor. If the FIA indeed increases the number of mandatory pit stops for the Monaco Grand Prix, it may make Sundays in Monte Carlo a bit more exciting.

The FIA has announced that ‘Monaco-specific regulations’ are being discussed, as part of the most recent F1 Commission meeting. Those in attendance agreed a rule proposal for increased mandatory pit stops in the race as a way of livening up the action,
