SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Yonhap) -- With an infield logjam addressed in a reported trade, the Los Angeles Dodgers' new South Korean player Kim Hye-seong appears to have a clearer path to playing time than when he signed last week.

The Korean free agent and Seattle Mariners target reportedly turned down more money to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Korean Baseball Organization star Hye-seong Kim to a three-year deal on January 3. He would presumably take over as the team's everyday second baseman. That could mean the Dodgers no longer need one of their longtime starters.

Kim's agency, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), said Saturday Kim agreed to a three-year deal worth US$12.5 million, with an option for two more years that would give him a chance to make up to $22 million total.
