In late January, students at Jocelynn Rojo Carranza’s school spread rumors and speculation that immigration authorities would deport families of students at the largely Hispanic school, according to a parent and another student.

Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, of Gainesville, loved to play the French horn, dance, swim and sing, according to her obituary. Her mom said bullies threatened to call ICE on her family.

An 11-year-old North Texas student reportedly died by suicide after bullies allegedly threatened to call immigration enforcement on her family. The Gainesville ISD student, Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, died on Feb. 8 at Medical City of Dallas, according to her obituary.
