Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane sparked a controversy on Thursday by comparing actor Saif Ali Khan with “garbage” and rasing questions on the stabbing incident.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan left a hospital in India’s financial capital Mumbai on Tuesday, less than a week after he suffered knife injuries in a scuffle with an intruder at his house, local media reported.

Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane also accused the opposition leaders of expressing concerns over an actor only when "a Khan is in trouble".

Minister Nitesh Rane expressed his opinion and asked if Saif Ali Khan was really attacked with a knife. Nitesh Rane said that Supriya Sule and Jeetendra Awad never worried about Hindu artists as they are only concerned about some of the artists.

Saif Ali Khan was injured while protecting his children from a burglar at his Bandra home. He was taken to hospital by auto-rickshaw driver Bhajan Singh Rana, who Saif later rewarded with Rs 50,000. Mika Singh praised Ranas heroism and offered an additional Rs 1 lakh.

Police had earlier found one part of the knife, a 2.5-inch blade, embedded in the actor’s body during his treatment

Three days after Saif Ali Khan was stabbed, Bandra police recovered the final piece of the broken knife near Bandra Talao. The accused, Shariful Fakir, had discarded the weapon after the attack at the actor’s residence.
