Vinciquerra pointed out that the Marvel film found success on streaming and refuses to deem it a "terrible film."

The CEO of Sony Pictures believes critics were too harsh on "Madame Web" and "Kraven the Hunter" and are the reason they bombed.

Outgoing Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra has claimed Madame Web fared poorly at the box office “because the press just crucified it”. Vinciquerra, who is stepping down on 2 January, insisted that the superhero film starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney wasn’t bad at all.

As he prepares to depart from Sony Pictures, CEO Tony Vinciquerra seemed to have few, if any, regrets about his seven-year run as studio head. That includes this year's pair of "Spider-Man" spinoff bombs,

"For some reason, the press decided that they didn’t want us making these films out of 'Kraven' and 'Madame Web,' and the critics just destroyed them."

Kraven the Hunter bombing seemed like it could be the nail in the coffin for the Sony Spider-Man Universe (that doesn’t have Spider-Man). Madame Web opened the year with disappointing totals. Then Venom: The Last Dance also performed poorly relative to the previous Venom films.
