OTTAWA — Teddy Stiga is the overtime hero for the United States at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa, leading them to a 4-3 OT victory over Finland on Sunday evening at the Canadian Tire Centre. The defending champion United States overcome a 3-1 deficit to beat Finland and win back-to-back world junior hockey gold medals for the first time.

Team USA, the only team with more than four NHL-drafted players that didn’t have a Utah HC prospect, captured the gold medal in an overtime battle with Team Finland.

Ten players from three of the conference’s schools — six from Boston College, three from Boston University, and one from Providence — were part of the 25-man roster.

Gaudreau won a gold medal with the national team back in 2013, and also earned a silver medal representing Team USA in the 2010 Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament and a bronze medal in the 2018 IIHF World Championships.

The 2025 World Junior Championship ended thrillingly on Sunday night with Team USA defeating Team Finland in overtime in the Gold Medal game. The entire tournament, as always, didn’t disappoint and all of New Jersey’s high school hockey alums fared well.
