Oct 9, 2010 · I received my FSM for my 1997 XJ today and found where the recommended jacking points are when using a floor jack. The axle wasn't listed so I placed my bottle jack on top of a set of 2x4's, side by side, and on top of that a hi-lift jack stand, to be able to lift the XJ high enough from the frame to clear the tires from the ground.

Jul 29, 2009 · Bottle jack actually a better choice for changing a tire. Hilift is not stable enough at the height you need to jack to get the tire off the ground. Hi-lift can be used with stock bumpers, jack with the lift under the mounting points. I use the bottle jack for flats and the Hi-lift for rescue. Can't afford a winch and bumper yet.
