Armband worn by the Jewish Ghetto Police in the Warsaw Ghetto. The Jewish Police Service (German: Jüdischer Ordnungsdienst), commonly known as Jewish Ghetto Police (German: Jüdische Ghetto-Polizei), also called the Jewish Police by Jews, were auxiliary police units organized within the Nazi ghettos by local Judenrat (Jewish councils). The Sonderkommando participated in the confiscation of Jewish property and fought all resistance in the ghetto. The Jewish police wore white armbands with a blue Star of David on their sleeves, and caps with red hatbands. They were armed with rubber batons.

Members of the Jewish police usually did not wear official uniforms, often with only an identification armband, cap, and badge. They were not allowed to carry firearms - they were equipped with truncheons. In ghettos, where the Judenrat opposed German orders (e.g. in Łuck), the Jewish police were often used to control or replace the council.

A plain worker wears a yellow armband with his number. The group leaders wear a yellow and silver one, and the administration officers are marked with two silver and one yellow stripe.

Aryanisation was a 1938 law that allowed Jewish business to be taken over by non-Jews. In November, 1939, all Jews in Lodz, regardless of age, must wear a yellow armband on their right arm as identification when they were outdoors.

These are four examples of arm bands used to identify Jews during World War II. The first band was worn by the Łódź Ghetto fire brigade. The star has cutouts of an axe, shovel, and ladder. The second band was worn by the Jewish police in the ghettos (Jüdischer Ordnungsdienst).
