Highway 395 has been closed due to several avalanches north of Lee Vining along the west shore of Mono Lake, which also damaged power poles and rock-retaining fences. Snow started accumulating in November.

Feb 27, 2023 · U.S. Highway 395 from Lee Vining to Bridgeport will remain in a hard closure due to several avalanches from the recent snowstorms and the potential for more at this time. Yesterday, Caltrans crews cleared two trapped law enforcement vehicles that had been surrounded by two avalanches at Mono Lake.

Mar 14, 2023 · Highway 395 is closed in Walker Canyon due to avalanche danger and for heavy snow between Bridgeport and Lee Vining. But that hasn’t stopped people from skiing the closed highway, Mono County officials said in Monday’s situation report.

Jan 20, 2010 · Highway 395 closed just after 1:30 pm between Mammoth and Bridgeport—the plows just weren’t able to keep up—and our staff got home to Mono City (7 miles north of our office in Lee Vining) just in time. We are expecting high winds this afternoon and evening to bring blizzard conditions.
