Fire Operations consists of ten fire stations and 150 suppression firefighters. In 2021, CVFD responded to over 28,000 incidents known as calls for service (CFS), increasing by twenty-six percent in recent years. On average there are seventy-nine CFS per day spread amongst 12 staffed companies.

The Chula Vista Fire Department utilizes full-time, compensated employees to fill the ranks in its Administrative, Operational, Prevention and Training divisions. There are no paid-call firefighters or fire reserves as are found around the country.
