The Prisoner Review Board conducts several types of hearings pursuant to its statutory responsibilities. These include: Indeterminate Parole Hearings or “En Banc” Hearings – for individuals in custody who were sentenced for crimes committed prior to 1978.

The Parole Division serves to address public safety and the reentry process. The division has initiated numerous programs and processes to reduce recidivism, address parolee risk to the community and provide numerous reentry services for returning citizens.

Parole boards in the United States do not have uniform titles, nor uniform powers or jurisdictions. In many cases their traditional powers have been limited by "determinate sentencing" and other reform legislation. Integral to the parole process are parole boards, entities tasked with evaluating an inmate’s suitability for release. Composed of individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, these boards play a pivotal role in assessing an inmate’s readiness to return to the community.
