Jun 21, 2009 · The title Imjin Scout comes from the Imjin River which runs to the south of the DMZ. The last award was given in the early 1990's when the last elements of the Second Infantry Division were withdrawn to the south side of the Imjin River. The first photograph is the Advanced Combat Training Academy at Camp Casey, Korea.

Jun 30, 2017 · "AMU" is Army Marksmanship Unit. "OIC" is Officer in Command. The commander of the 2nd Infantry Division's marksmanship unit. Probably a unit that trained other division soldiers and competed in matches.

Jun 21, 2009 · Soldiers of the 1st Battalion 9th Infantry c. 1979-1980. Note the soldier on the left is wearing the Imjin Scout patch while the soldier on the right is wearing some sort of Recondo patch and locally applied eppaulettes and leadership tabs on his OG-107 fatigue shirt.

Sep 22, 2007 · Earlier shirts would have still worn the white name tape with black lettering. Later shirts would have gone to the subdued 2nd Infantry Division Insignia and Imjin scout badge. It is for a 2Lt of Engineers, and I believe most Engineer units in 2nd Division were out of Camp Howze, Korea at the time, which is south of the Imjin River.

May 15, 2014 · The AVENGERS 14th is a Philippine unit.They did serve in Korea, I have their unit history with that patch design.If I remember right they were attached to the 2nd Infantry Division. To me the all look good except for the two 25th Division patches.

Nov 10, 2012 · Found this bit of information, a period 2nd Inf Div booklet, in it it states that the lead elements of the 2nd Division came ashore ( presumably the 9th Infantry) came ashore under German Artillery fire, it's a good read this booklet a very detailed account.

Lopez said DMZ duty generally was unpleasant: nights in foxholes with sleepy GIs as North Koreans cut the fence lines to infiltrate the south.
