As well as high altitude interception, along with the ability to shoot down Cruise missiles, escort high flying bombers, and provide strategic air defence, the MiG-31 also had, unlike the MiG-25, a good ability to provide low-level support, whilst maintaining speed and manoeuvrability.

The MiG-31 is a large twin-engine aircraft with shoulder-mounted wings and twin vertical tailfins and two seats since the aircraft is an interceptor is not designed for close combat or rapid turning. Powered by two D30-F6 jet engines it has maximum speed of Mach 1.23 at low altitude.

Jan 11, 2016 · The new AMK Mig-31BM/BSM kit in 1:48 is an awesome testament to its designer's skill, and as well as fitting beautifully it captures the look of this mean-looking Cold War Warrior, and builds into a highly detailed and BIG model.

This kit provides options for the MiG-31BM and MiG-31BSM variants. These are MiG-31B and MiG-31BS airframes that were updated (hence the M (modified) suffix) and the most visible difference between the MiG-31B/BM and MiG-31BS/BSM is that the B/BM is equipped with a retractable air refueling probe while the BS/BSM cannot air refuel.

This MiG-31 kit fills a major void in the 1/48th scale MiG OKB kit line-up and if you want to build one of the earlier MiG-31s, AMK has already announced the MiG-31B/BS coming in the near future. This MiG-31BM/BSM kit represents the latest configurations of the aircraft in service.

The AMK Mig-31 B/BS Foxhound is one of the best model kits I have purchased in some time. Modern casting makes for an enjoyable assembly process. Very precise instructions and well packaged parts.
