Aug 29, 2023 · Park cable cutters do gear outer without having to fanny about with a bradawl or metal file (or the electric grinding wheel if you have one) but the brake outer cable is thicker and more problematic. The cutters 'cut' ok but it still needs a bit work with the grinder and bradawl.
How the blazes do I cleanly cut external gear / brake cable outer ...
Oct 6, 2021 · I need to cut some lengths of cable housing to replace the freyed remains for my road bike. When I eventually manage to eat through the threads, I end up with a messy, ragged end.

Sep 10, 2013 · I've just spent out on some tools and bits and bobs for DIY from Screwfix, so decided to get some cable cutters, some diagonal cutters and combination pliers. Even if the cutters last a year, it's not gonna break the bank. I try not to use bike specific tools (sometimes you do have to), so just gone for tools that can be replaced cheaply.

Internal cable routing problem - CycleChat Cycling Forum
Dec 27, 2022 · I have internal cable routing on my bike (Cube Attain GTC Race 2021), with Shimano 105 R7000 drivetrain. I've been having issues with the front change to the large ring recently, and after a bit of fiddling around, though it was most likely the cable, so …
Shimano STI cable issues - CycleChat Cycling Forum
Aug 15, 2024 · I have Tiagra 4700 STI's which suffer from the well known issue of cable breaking inside the levers. Does this problem extend to all Shimano under bar tape sti's or are Tiagra's worse. I struggle to get 12 months on the rear shifter (about 4000 miles).
Gear cable fraying inside Shimano shifter - CycleChat Cycling Forum
Dec 17, 2021 · All cables will fatigue and fail when run over a pulley, and the smaller the pulley relative to the cable diameter, the quicker they fail. The pulley (i.e. the bit of the shifter that the cable wraps round) should be 20-30 times the cable diameter for a good service life, and bike gear shifters aren't big enough for that.
