Nov 21, 2008 · At the Range last week I stumbled on a FNH FN AR in .308 that looks just like the BAR but has the pistol grip and 20 round mag. After doing some research I found out FNH owns Browning, and the FN AR looks almost exactly like the BAR. I am looking for a one rifle does it all.

The only difference between the two, meaning the FN FAL and the BAR, is the stock and sometimes the chambering, with the FN FAL usually being a 7.62X51.

I finally found a retired marine armorer who showed me how to take out the fore end sling stud and drop oil onto the piston.

Nov 20, 2017 · My FIRST inclination would be to find a BAR sporting rifle chambered for .338 Winchester and scale the new rifle's dimensions up, based on the ratio of case dimensions (.338 Lapua:.338 Winchester). Even if the first build ended up costing under $100,000, the resulting firearm would likely be quite heavy, perhaps even impractically so.

Jul 15, 2023 · Browning used to use names for grades like 'Lighting, Pigeon, Pointer, Grade IV and Midas. FN in Belgium made the guns we call 'Browning' but they were FNs in Europe and there were more 'grades' than imaginable. When production went to Japan, they started the many different 'grades' that sometimes just meant 'options'.

Jun 9, 2023 · The tight tolerances of the BAR (and B-2000) even caused problems in some factory ammo. Browning (Speer) .338 Win would not chamber in some new BARs. and Some Fiocci ammo wouldn't fit in a B-2000. Some BARs would outshoot most bolt actions on the rack, straight out of the box. I doubt FN changed anything but the chamber polish.

Oct 23, 2016 · I've got a drop-dead gorgeous FN Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 270 Win. It's a 2012 model, and I think it's the only brand new rifle I've ever purchased. I fell in love with its looks, I've always been a Winchester fan, and I also love FN. So I couldn't help myself, and so I bought it 3 years ago this month.

Nov 3, 2014 · If you tried bases made for Browning rifles, I think you are not on the right track. The older Browning Safari is built on a FN action (Sako made their own rifles based on that action immediately prior to producing Safaris for Browning). I think you should be looking for a two piece mount to fit an older FN Mauser action.
