Aug 5, 2020 · Its expensive to own a V8 year round in the JDM market. Honda/Acura dont have a large enough brand image to influence people to buy a V8. Most people dont go to a Honda dealer looking for their next Camaro killer. Its just not what they're known for. Lexus is making V8 coupes and theyre flopping like pancakes.

A lot of work was done to not improve peak horsepower, but to enhance drivability (ie: torque shaping) as they found improved lap times doing so. Honda gave one example where reducing peak power by 16hp at Monza, for more area under peak, was worth .04s in lap time. The Cosworth CA made 756bhp in 2006.
