Feb 15, 2025 · This set brings together the jam sessions by non-regular working groups on tour with the Jazz At The Philharmonic that were recorded from 1950 to 1957 (the last year that Granz had actively produced JATP performances) and released on Clef, Mercury, Norgran and Verve.

Nov 1, 2009 · A great box set of jazz from the 1940's and the 50's (before I was even born). Great tracks and awesome jam sessions. For recordings that are 60- and 70-years old, the sound quality is fantastic. I will be listening to these CDs over and over again.

May 19, 2023 · JATP concerts from the 1940s were documented in 1998 on a 10-CD Verve boxed set. But until now, the 1950s concerts have been passed over for a retrospective. In fact, since the CD era began very little of the material from that span has been available at all.

This de luxe 2-CD Box Set of previously unissued live recordings, includes a 16-page booklet plus a facsimile reproduction of the original German program that was handed during JATP's 1956 European tour.

This set includes the CDs in reverse print gatefold card wallet sleeves reproducing the original artwork, along with an extensive illustrated 224-page booklet, all mounted into a specially divided wooden base with black ash wood & perspex lid, measuring 7" x 5½" x 3".

Thanks to the vision of producer Norman Granz who put together the famed package tours of Jazz At The Philharmonic, legends of the swing and bebop era are captured on recordings as they were supposed to be recorded, blowing their brains out in ecstatic sounds. Here's a box set that show how “live” music can actually sound “alive”.
