Jean obtained B.S. chemistry at Indiana University Bloomington, then Ph.D. in chemistry at Stanford University. For doctoral research, Jean studied ultrafast dynamics of proteins with nonlinear infrared spectroscopy and how they are related to structure and function with Professor Michael D. Fayer.

Jean-Ju L. Chung received her bachelors and masters degree from Seoul National University, Korea and her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 2007. She was a postdoctoral fellow with David E. Clapham in the Department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School.

We study membrane receptors, ion channels, and their downstream signaling molecules that regulate sperm motility and fertility in mammals. In particular, we study the primary calcium channel “ CatSper ” and its accessory subunits.
