Seems like I talked to them when I first moved back to Alabama 10 years ago and they would let me pickup at their Birmingham location.

Jan 23, 2025 · On the whole, the spot price for a bag of lead is DOWN for the last year, and the price of oil (transport) is flat to down as well on the year. 2024 23.67 ($23.42 for lead, $0.25 for antimony) 2025 23.54 ($21.16 for lead, $2.38 for antimony) I remember times where the mfg cost was quite a bit higher, and the cost of a bag of shot was still lower.

In around 1982 shot prices hit rock bottom because Silver had gotten so high. A bunch of shooters where I worked went in together and we bought 11 tons. I bought three of those.

Jan 2, 2025 · Chilled Lead Shot is softer and slightly denser than Magnum lead shot. It is better for short-range applications. Chilled lead shot usually contains about 2-3% antimony. Magnum Lead Shot is harder and slightly less dense than Chilled lead shot. Harder shot is more prone to retain its spherical shape during the firing sequence.

The issue arises that there are other elements that can be smelted into lead to produce hardness. In short, the Vickers Hardness numbers are the only accurate way to measure the hardness in lead shot.

Apr 13, 2016 · Since this is a Trap Shooting Forum I just ran some numbers on #7-1/2, #8 and #9 lead shot that is 5% Antimony. The speed of all three shot sizes was 1200 fps and the gel penetration was set at 1.0". The lead #9 shot got 1.0" of gel penetration at 28 yards. The lead #8 shot got 1.0" of gel penetration at 39 yards.

Jan 12, 2025 · Twice i have ordered shot from them.. Twice i have recieved a mix of shot.. Ordered:-7 1/2 shot: what i got is.. 7, 7 1/2 and 8 shot mixed together - ordered 6 shot.. I got: 6, 6 1/2 and 5 shot mixed.. What the heck! Where can i get the actual shot size i want.. not happy with this mix shot garbage..especially when loading 28 gauge..

Dec 25, 2024 · Obviously you weren't trying for a head shot. But that's OK. Most centered body shots result in a bird in the pouch. Most nickel plated shot I've read about contain low antimony soft shot underneath. I wouldn't waste money on nickel plated shot unless someone could confirm high antimony, magnum level shot underneath.
