At Marshall University, our concern for the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff is always a top priority. With the support of personnel from other departments, we have hundreds of people involved in our goal of maintaining a safe and secure campus.

The Marshall University Police Department is located in the Public Safety Building. We are located at the intersection of 18th Street and 5th Ave; which is directly across the street from the Twin Towers Residence Hall.

Director James E. Terry has been with the Marshall University Police Department since 1987. Before he became the Director of Public Safety, he served as the Assistant Director. Terry has also served time as a patrol unit for the department.

Sep 17, 2021 · The motorcycles were a gift from the City of Huntington as the Huntington Police Department upgraded two of their units to newer models. Marshall University Police Department Lt. Dicky Parker says the motorcycles are a great recruiting tool.

Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Permit parking is enforced from 7:00AM to 7:00PM, Monday through Thursday and 7:00AM to 4:00PM on Friday. All other violations are enforced 24 hours a day by the Marshall University Police Department.

Report all Crime or suspicious situations immediately to the Marshall University Police Department. 696-4357(HELP). All members of the University community are urged to lend their support both in reporting crimes and practicing preventive measures to reduce them.

The Marshall University Police Department (MUPD) provides a variety of public safety -related services to the University community consisting of approximately 16,000 students, faculty, and staff.
