Kickoff is a global event where FRC (First Robotics Competition) teams come together to find out what our season's challenge and game is. We then brainstorm ideas on what we want our game play to look like and begin prototyping our robot.

Wave Robotics is a high school student team that competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a brand, and use teamwork skills to create a robot that performs tasks against a field of competitors.

Wave Robotics was originally created through FIRST. Founded over 25 years ago by inventor Dean Kamen, FIRST has attracted more than 250,000 youth and more than 100,000 mentors, coaches, and volunteers from 75 countries.

Founded in 2008, Wave Robotics was created with the intent of providing STEAM based opportunities to students. The goal of this program is to provide, guide, and teach students skills they can use in the workplace.

On Feb 18, 2024, Wave attended the Sussex-Hamilton scrimmage hosted by team 537 Charger Robotics. We went to this event to practice with other teams before our first competition during week 3 at Central Illinois Regional.

On March 7th, four Wave students were invited by a local radio station who sponsored our shirts this season, 93.9 WOSH to talk about our upcoming competition. The students arrived early in the morning and were led to a recording booth with the host in another booth.

Wave Robotics has created a series of safety and machine tutorials to help team standardize their trainings. There are QR codes for any team to download to attach to machines in their shops. This allows team members quick access to the tutorials.
