The core of the The Royal Danish Ballet is the Bournonville-tradition, named after August Bournonville who led the company in the 1830's. Today The Royal Danish Ballet is a modern ballet-company with both Danish and international dancers.

Founded back in 1771, the Royal Danish Ballet School is exceptional in the sense that the Royal Danish Ballet is one of the few companies in the world where both dance classes and academic classes are taught within the theatre building.

Corpus was established in 2012 as The Royal Danish Theatre’s experimental dance and choreography project. Corpus worked with co-creation, experimental collaborators, cross-disciplinary approaches and formatting of creations, processes, and seasons until December 2021, where the project ended.

Gregory Dean, a principal dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet, has choreographed such ballets as Blixen and Gotta Dance! His Cinderella is a classic story for all ages about how love, hope and an open mind can conquer even the blackest darkness.

Blixen is a grand three-act ballet that stages the entire ballet company and is choreographed by Royal Principal Dancer Gregory Dean, who also created Cinderella and The Forgotten Children for the Royal Danish Ballet.

We offer two different one-week courses during the Royal Danish Ballet - Summer School and are opening our doors to pianists who wish to expand their skill sets and learn about the intricacies of playing for performing artists. The course takes place in the facilities of the Royal Danish Theatre.
