
Sea urchin part of cleaning crew in reef aquarium?
May 29, 2014 · I love my "decorator urchin" (I have heard it called so many vairations of names - basically a solid-colored halloween urchin) but it gets its name for a distinct reason. As it wanders the tank, doing its awesome cleaning job, it collects shells, algae, occasional polyps, sand and almost anything to add to its collection of decorations.

Jun 16, 2018 · Sea Urchin I was told they are safe for most reef tanks. Now I Discovered they can be deadly to many kept corals, Feasting on them at Night. I had a pencil urchin that ate a whole frag of clove Polyps one evening.

Nov 15, 2019 · My sea urchin grabbed it, but since the bottom of the hats are not a full arched shape, it does not fit perfectly. The cowboy hat has quite a large area in comparison to the small contact area for the sea urchin to hold on to it. With the water flow and rocks, the hat will come loose after awhile.
Urchin hasn't moved since added, losing spines | Reef2Reef
Dec 1, 2023 · I added a short spine urchin to my tank a few days ago. He wedged himself under a rock and has not moved since and I can see a few of his spines on the sand. As far as I know, all tank parameters are ok. Is this normal acclimation, or should I be worrying?

Feb 27, 2021 · In many cases, an urchin will drop spine needles due to a reaction to stress (perhaps from acclimation) but it is totally possible for the urchin to regenerate and do fine, granted, your water quality is good. The spines might appear to be gone but can remain in the deeper layers of skin.

Apr 4, 2020 · There are red tuxedo urchins and different color variants of pincushion urchins. I think there's also a rainbow urchin as well. I have a pretty standard pincushion urchin, but his colors are still pretty vibrant.

Feb 26, 2014 · Some urchins are not reef-safe. I believe the diadema (spiny) or tuxedo urchins are your best bet, though I wouldn't trust me on that XD check up on the exact species before purchase.
