What to do with old 327 crankcase breather tube?
Mar 3, 2011 · I'm not sure how to go about terminating the crankcase breather tube in my 67 327. Originally it had a PCV valve coming off of it with a huge amount of hoses connecting the old A.I.R. smog equipment. Well that old smog stuff is long gone and I'm not sure what to do now so I don't have a huge open tube leading into my engine.
Crankcase Ventilation Help... (Early 327) - Team Camaro Tech
Oct 4, 2011 · In '67, the standard engine ventilation system (shown in the Assembly Manual in UPC 6, sheet C5) used the adapter at the rear of the block with a hose to a PCV valve and a fitting at the rear of the carburetor base; outside air entered the crankcase through the vented oil fill cap on the oil fill tube at the front of the intake manifold.

Jun 29, 2004 · From this vent/breather I have a hose which runs up to the carb. This is the way it was I believe in stock form. I've just recently had a chance to get this car back on the road after a several year rebuild. Now however, the rear breather is seeping oil and spilling down onto the back of the block. 1. Is this the proper way to vent this motor? 2.

Jan 18, 2007 · Works with open headers and with race muffers, probably not with anything approaching a stock system. Works very well if installed correctly, the moving exhaust in the collector creates a low pressure area in the tube which draws a vacuum on the crankcase. All the pumps I've seen "vent" to a catch can with a breather.

Jan 31, 2007 · If you want the cheapest easiest PCV set up run a carb spacer with a PCV outlet on the back (you'll have plenty of hood clearance). Have a hose go from there to a PCV fitting in the pass valve cover. On the other valve cover put a vented breather. Bottom line is one fresh air source and one vacum source to draw from the opposite side of the engine.

Oct 14, 2017 · Many Chevy/GM cars had a PCV hose that is hooked to the base plate of the carb where the engine would create vacuum through the hose to the PCV in the valve cover. On the opposite valve cover, you'd see either a breather or a "breather hose" that is plumbed into the air filter sheet metal inside the perimeter of the actual air filter.

Mar 13, 2017 · The opposite cover has a simple breather elbow that connects to the air cleaner just like the old one did. I purchased a breather style cap with a hose nipple for a closed ventilation system. The cap took a 5/8 hose which doesn't fit the carb nipple, so to make it work, I inserted a piece of the old PCV valve to carb hose into the new 5/8 hose ...
PCV valve with breather oil cap = vacuum leak
Oct 7, 2009 · Two conditions: crankcase vacuum and pressure. 1) With vacuum through the PCV valve, the one way check valve will be closed on the oil cap breather hose. When normal pressure occurs in the crankcase the PCV valve closes and the one way check valve in the oil cap breather hose opens. This is not any problems with the motor rotating assembly.

Jan 10, 2000 · I have personal experience with using a smog pump to pull crankcase vacuum. I put a 406 SBC in a 67 PU and used a smog pump off a 88-92 Camaro to pull the vacuum. The motor is totally sealed, i.e. no PCV or breather tube. It can pull up to 30" Hg vacuum in the crankcase, so much in fact, we had to put a vacuum regulator on it!!
