Aug 6, 2010 · I am sorry if I misled you, but I am recommending that you do NOT go looking for the Shroud House. There is no convenient place to "walk in". It is a very small, overgrown patch of land. And it is nowhere near the paved trail you speak of. I know of other stories, not locations.

Jul 8, 2018 · I'd agree that the 649 is a really nice gun. I'd personally give the edge to the Model 60 as the best .357 j-frame S&W, but it's really a matter of personal preference. I don't personally love the hammer shroud on the 649, but I'd take it over the DAO 640 any day of the week.

Jan 18, 2021 · I use to have one and I bought it after unsafe act. If you look close you will see the barrel isn’t threaded. There is a shroud around the barrel that is threaded. Find a different ffl. I was just at a ffl doing a transfer on a ar. He insisted it needed a pinned mag even though it had no threaded barrel, no telescopic stock, no pistol grip.

You're not pulling out pins or messing with much of anything at all. It has one tapered allen head bolt that locks the entire chassis together on the factory rail attachment of the gun.
