Oct 3, 2013 · How early do you guys start lightly knockin the horns together? I personally have always waited til last week of october. But i just got a trail cam pic last week of 2 bucks sparing and we going at it pretty hard. Obviously its not over a hot doe. Is it just young bucks messing around or what?

He and two other big bucks fed into the hay field, and picked over the clover. I watched them for several minutes. Eventually, the deer walked within range. I drew back, settled the pin, and took the shot.

Jan 2, 2018 · The overwhelming majority of tracks there are greater than 4 fingers wide. I've spotted several 8 and 10 point bucks that I couldn’t get within range. Its bow and muzzleloader only. It has an abundant late season food source. The private land surrounding it seems to be pressuring deer into it.

Jan 20, 2025 · I have tagged out on bucks a few times. I could tag out most years if I wasn’t so picky. I have no trouble eating tag soup if the right deer doesn’t walk by during a season anymore. I do very little firearms hunting anymore which makes filling that second buck tag even harder.

Nov 13, 2024 · The experience I've had on my farm is mature bucks are locked with does during this time frame. It's the 1-2 year olds that are wandering around to be shot right now. It breaks back open around the 17th where the older bucks have to start searching for does and bucks can be seen that won't be seen any other time of year.

Dec 6, 2018 · I was hunting late muzzle loader season a few years back and a line of does came through (5) and about 5 minutes later a group of shooter bucks (4) came through on that same trail following the doe. I picked out the best of the bunch and downed him.
