Now in DL2 virals spawn on literally every fight, right on you. As I’ve read online, apparently it is because of sounds that your weapons and zombies make when you fight them. Sounds ridiculous to me and ruins the tempo of my game a lot, bringing only more trouble to deal with constantly.

This essentially sorta-kills and converts any normal human into a Viral. If you hit them with anything while they're transforming, they'll die instantly.
