Jan 12, 2025 · Have had the same Sky+HD box for over 10 years, never gave any real issues until recently - I'd say around 5 times over the last 3 months or so it would randomly turn itself off when I would be watching something (live or recorded) in the same way as would happen if I unplugged it, it would take a couple of minutes before I could turn it back on.

Nov 18, 2024 · I've replaced my Sky+HD box to get wifi, but am now stuck in a loop trying to validate my card. I updated the software (although apparently there's been no updates for a while) and using my Sky ID, log into the validation instructions - select Sky+ box, scroll down - and click on the card validation link - but it just takes me back to the start ...

Apr 4, 2024 · The other,thing Sky have recently announced is that there won't be any further software updates to Sky+HD boxes. In fact, there hasn't been an update anyway for well over a year. Your Sky+HD box can, of course, fail at any time because of hard disk failure.

Dec 24, 2024 · As others have said SKY Q does allow recording similar to SKY HD, however it is slightly different to SKY HD multiscreen in that all recordings are stored on the (1) main box . Dec 17, 2024 · I've just picked up a Sky+HD box on Freecycle with the intention of cancelling his Sky subscription altogether and just use this box to view Freesat channels instead. I know he can't keep and/or use his current Sky Q box if he cancels. Also, he no longer has an aerial to receive Freeview.

Jan 6, 2025 · One can still use a Sky+HD box to receive free-to-air channels that are using DVB-S and DVB-S2 as both are supported on Sky+HD, provided they downgrade to a Universal LNB (that Sky+HD uses) from a Wideband LNB (that Sky Q uses) and the Sky+HD would be without the functionality I outlined above.
