In 1862 he joined the Covington Altar Stock Building Company (CASBS), established by the Benedictine order of Latrobe, Pennsylvania and based at old St. Joseph Church in Covington (now demolished).

Starting a church wasn’t something Boswell ever considered doing, he said, since he has always been a pastor at established churches, including Myers Park Baptist Church for almost a decade.
